Message
from the newly elected officers of the Swansea Bay Advanced Motorists.
As of Thursday 29th July 2010, the Swansea Bay Advanced Motorists
group has new officers at the helm. Darren Hounsell (chairman),
James Ettle (treasurer), and Keith Evans (secretary and training
coordinator). They will continue the hard work which was carried
out by the previous officers in getting the group back on its feet.
The core objective of the group will continue to be the improvement
of driving standards by preparing associates for the I A M test.
However, following the discussions in the last meeting, it is felt
that as a group we also need to have a more social side. We are
taking the opportunity of our summer break to explore the possibility
of holding our meetings at a different location which would introduce
a more ‘relaxed’ atmosphere to meetings. Our findings
will be discussed at the September meeting. Members have also stated
that we need to plan more social events. This has been taken on
board and it is hoped that a short program of events will be published
in due course. Some of the ideas in mind are ‘drive outs’,
master classes (with a social element included), and visits to places
like car factories etc. To be successful, these events need your
support. If you have any ideas, please contact any of the committee.
Our next group meeting will be on Thursday 30th September 2010 @
7.00 pm in the Trallwn Community centre, Swansea.
Did
you know?
- 10,500,000 motoring
offences were dealt with in England and Wales during
2001
- In
the same year, there were 3,598 road
deaths in the UK
- There
are over 200,000 road accidents
in the UK every year - a figure
higher than the population of Swansea!
Do
you want to improve your standard of driving?
Then
why not apply for the Skill for Life? |
